Alice and Alice are coming out. Finally.
Two exceptional, opinionated women were spotted winking at each other in Crumlin Shopping Centre. Now they’re in a show…reluctantly. Defying stereotype, they’re here to share with you something they’ve never dared to before. A fresh, human and hilarious piece, I ♥ Alice ♥ I explores the monumental journey of a most unlikely couple.Winner of two ABSOLUT Fringe awards in 2010 including the Fishamble New Writing Award, this stirring piece of documentary theatre is an unflinching and acutely personal love story.
I ♥ Alice ♥ I was remounted in 2011 as part of ReViewed, a showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Irish Theatre Institute, at the Dublin Theatre Festival. Since then it has been programmed at the Peacock Stage of the Abbey, Ireland, National Theatre, The Way Our West Festival, Sligo, The Irish Arts Centre, New York, The Lokál Festival, Reykjavík, Iceland, The Electric Picnic, Stradbally, Co. Laois & Glasgay, Glasgow.
In 2013 it had its Australian premiere at the World Theatre Festival in Brisbane in February 2013 before touring to the Auckland Arts Festival and to Swansea, Deloraine and Burnie as part of Ten Days on the Island in Tasmania.
In June and July 2013 the Alice’s will embarked on a national tour to Listowel Writers Festival, Mermaid Arts Centre, Carlow Arts Festival, The Dock in Leitrim, Town Hall Theatre Galway, Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo, glór in Ennis, The Cork Midsummer Festival, The Riverbank Arts Centre in Kildare and The Clonmel Junction Festival.

“this is a humorous, affecting and quietly empowering work that fully convinces in its artful facsimile of real people sharing experiences both ordinary and precious.”
